Practical Guide to Quantum Computing

Quantum mechanics is a mathematical framework for the development of physical theories. In this course aimed at intermediate users, you will cover some of the more central ideas in quantum computing, to better understand where these ideas originate.

The session will also include a tutorial where attendees can write code to create their own quantum circuit for mathematical computations.

In this Learner Level course, you will discover:

  • Core concepts of quantum computing including vectors and qubits
  • Quantum computation using qubit gates
  • Physical realisation of qubits
  • How to make use of free, open source resources to complete practical exercises to see this theory put into practice

Pre-requisites:

  • Linear algebra knowledge helpful, but not required
  • In order to participate in the IBM Quantum Lab tutorial, you will need to go to IBM Quantum and create a IBMid account in advance of the session.  This will only take a couple of minutes and you will just need to verify your email and review the terms of use to make sure they are acceptable
