Working in partnership
QuEST is a collaborative training programme – it is designed as a resource to support industry to train early career cohorts in the skills that are required as the quantum ecosystem grows.
There are a range of ways that we work with our partners: from receiving apprentices/early careers staff to train alongside our STFC cohorts; offering placements to help budding technicians gain experience within quantum-related settings; providing industry visits; supplying machinery and equipment for our training workshops; to conversations and input into curriculum development.
Engaging with industry
The QuEST team are engaging with industry and inviting organisations to get involved – this could include:
- Advising on key skills needed in industry
- Supporting with shaping the curriculum
- Sending relevant early careers cohorts to attend QuEST training
- Offering placements to help budding technicians to gain experience within quantum-related settings
- Supplying machinery and equipment for our training workshops
- Taking advantage of the home-grown quantum-enabled talent pool once the programme is established
- Providing industry visits
Our current and previous partners
Our apprentices are gaining a great deal from QuEST, and that really comes through in the variety of work they are covering, in particular the CAD work and vacuum-related elements—they are genuinely enthusiastic about what they’ve been learning. The apprentices have fed back how supported they feel while at QuEST—highlighting that they’re always encouraged to ask questions, work at a pace that suits them, and learn through mistakes and trial-and-error approaches. Both the practical and theoretical sessions are well structured and clearly delivered, with content that is directly relevant to their apprenticeship—going as far as to say that every minute spent at QuEST is genuinely useful.
